Chromexcel has been produced using the same technique for over 80 years. It is made with a combination of vegetable tanning and chrome tanning, originally developed by Horween for boots, making it relatively water-resistant and durable.

The leather, rich in oils, is softer than expected for its thickness, and is renowned for its comfortable break-in period. Even small scratches can be brushed away.

While typical leather shoes use about 1mm thick leather for business shoes, this model uses 2.2mm leather. You can immediately feel the thickness and toughness of the leather, which resists deformation even after long use.

These shoes use orthopedic shoe molds, originally made by specialists for foot treatment and functional support. The wooden mold (#1228) is uniquely improved with an inward curve. The width is set to "D".

This shoe is constructed using the Goodyear welt method, which is complex and robust. A major advantage is that the sole can be replaced multiple times. The durability, comfort, and stable fit of this construction, along with its heavy design, offer a distinctive character.


Slip-Resistant and Functional Heel
The heel uses the "BOOTS FACTORY HEEL." This design is inspired by "Cat’s Paw," widely used in boots during the 1940s, but with distinct Japanese elements. The circular part features a hemp leaf pattern, and the outer design is inspired by the dry landscape garden, ensuring excellent grip. The structure is resistant to slipping, making it highly functional even on rainy days.
