For sale here we have a Goodwin Granger Victory Model 8040 bamboo rod -- 8' 4-5wt 3/1. The rod is in excellent refinished condition. All sections are full length and straight. The second original tip is missing. The rod features classic Granger ammoniated, browntone cane. Rust and black variegated silks. There is a band of black tipping as well, not an original feature. Spiral signature wrap midway between the grip and stripping guide. Blued guides, a few are replacements. The original script has been lost and rewritten in the restorer's hand. Western-style grip is soiled but in wonderful shape. Nickel silver patented up-locking reel seat could use a little polishing but is otherwise in excellent condition and operates perfectly. Nickel-silver ferrules with indented witness marks. The fit is very good. The female ferrule on the mid section is clicking and will require attention soon. The rod has a smooth medium-fast action well suited as an all-around trout rod. The 8040 is thought by many to be the finest taper made by Granger.
