For sale here we have a fantastic Mike McFarland 8'6" 6wt 4 pc. semi-parabolic fiberglass fly rod. Serial no. 0417. The rod is in mint condition having only been lawn cast. Made of S-Glass and weighing 3.65 oz. McFarland is arguably rolling some of the best glass blanks out there. The rod features a vintage yellow blank with matching wraps giving the rod a clean look. The spigot ferrules fit perfectly with a small gap between sections to allow for wear over time. Black witness marks for easy alignment. Handsome E.C. Powell-style grip 6 1/2" in length. Black aluminum down-locking reel seat over a wonderfully figured wood spacer. The action is wonderful -- smooth and stout, semi-parabolic and on the faster side of medium-fast. The rod has more than enough power in the butt section while the thin tips and natural properties of fiberglass allow for tippet protection and finesse. A great rod for lakes, bigger rivers, or especially as a boat rod casting streamers up to the bank. Includes original bag and tube with McFarland logo on the side.
