Mount Clemens earned its nickname as "Bath City" for the mineral springs that drew visitors from across the Midwest. Founded in 1906, the Bathers played Class D ball in the Southern Michigan League, carrying that spa town identity right onto the diamond. Small town clubs like these were the backbone of early baseball in Michigan.
