Very rare item; at the rise of Cromwell and the Presbtyerians / Westminster Assembly of Divines, moves were made to bring the universites under the Negative Oath and Solemn League and Covenant's influence. Cambridge had long been a Puritan strong-hold. Oxford, not so much.

The present rare tractate, argued by important faculty and leadership at Oxford, argues against compliance with the Covenant and the influence of the Cromwellian Parliament. Fascinatingly, they turn the Presbyterian / Dissenter's own arguments of religious liberty and conscience to great effect against their authors.
