Comfrey Oil: Overview
Comfrey Oil is derived from the roots and leaves of the Symphytum officinale plant, known for its powerful healing, anti-inflammatory, and pain-relieving properties. Rich in allantoin, rosmarinic acid, and mucilage, it helps accelerate wound healing, tissue regeneration, and bone repair, making it popular for treating bruises, sprains, muscle pain, arthritis, and fractures (often called "knitbone"). Comfrey oil is commonly used in herbal salves, balms, and massage oils to relieve joint stiffness and promote skin repair. However, due to the presence of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs), it should be used externally and with caution to avoid toxicity.
