Atlanta's Firecrackers joined the Southern Association as a Class B club in 1892, representing a city already surging with post-Reconstruction ambition. Minor league baseball bound Georgia neighborhoods together in those years. Playing in Atlanta meant carrying the pride of a franchise determined to prove itself on the diamond.
