Capture true colour with zero glare using the PiXAPRO Cross-Polarisation Filter Set for the Godox MF12 and MF-T76 macro flashes. Built to fit the needs of dentists, medical professionals, forensic imaging, and the 3D-Scanning/Photogrammetry industry, this set works by aligning two polarising filters at 90°, eliminating reflections to reveal accurate surface detail and the true surface colour. This is ideal for accurate shade matching, subsurface dental analysis, as well as capturing a clean albedo/colour map, capturing 3D scanning and photogrammetry. Quick and easy to set up, this handy little polarising filter kit delivers consistent and accurate results every time.
Cross-polarisation is a photographic technique (often used in the Dental industry and for 3D Scanning/Photogrammetry in the CGI industry) that uses two polarising filters (one on your light source and one on the camera lens), oriented perpendicular (90°) to each other, to eliminate glare and specular reflections from your photographs, leaving only the true surface colours of your subject.

Cross-polarised photography eliminates specular reflections from an image, enabling accurate shade matching and improved visualisation of the subsurface structures of teeth. In dentistry, it also helps reduce glare on lesions within the oral mucosa. Beyond its clinical applications, cross-polarisation is also widely used in the CGI and game development industries to capture accurate albedo and colour maps for creating textures and materials for 3D models.
First, clip one of the polarising filters in this set to each of your MF12 macro flash heads, then mount the polarising filter to your lens using one of the included filter-thread mount adapters (if the filter thread on your lens doesn't match any of the provided adapters, step-up or step-down rings can be purchased elsewhere). Once both filters are in place, look at your subject through the camera and slowly rotate the filter on your lens. Continue adjusting it until the specular reflections disappear. When those reflections are no longer visible, everything is set, and you’re ready to go.
The Cross-Polarisation Filter Set for the Godox MF12 and MF-T76 is made from carbon fibre, making it both highly durable and exceptionally lightweight. This allows it to be used with virtually no noticeable increase in the weight of your camera rig.
The PiXAPRO Cross-Polarisation Filter Set for the Godox MF12 lets you capture accurate surface colours in exceptional detail, free from distracting specular reflections. Quick and simple to set up, this reliable tool provides a reliable solution for dental and medical professionals, as well as CG artists, to capture the images they need for their work with ease.
PLEASE NOTE: This Cross-Polarisation Kit is only compatible with the MF12 or MF-T76 when used in conjunction with the MF-DB dental bracket. The polariser cannot be mounted to the MF-AR Ring Adapter.
PLEASE NOTE: Does NOT remove reflections or Specular Highlights from Metallic subjects.
