A charming little volume which we're always delighted to see. It was this volume, "Tobacco Talk," which popularized the the drama surrounding C. H. Spurgeon's public advocacy of tobacco in general, and cigar smoking specifically, during the late 1870's. The account is rather extensive, covering pages 29-34. A very attractive example.
Retains a very fine bookplate thought to be executed by Cleora Wheeler.
[Spurgeon - Tobacciana]. Tobacco Talk and Smokers' Gossip. An Amusing Miscellany of Fact and Anecdote Related to the "Great Plant" in all its Forms and Uses, Including a Selection from Nicotian Literature. London. George Redway. 1884. 148pp.
Good + to very good in original quarter morocco binding with marbled boards. A bit rubbed, but very handsome and sound.
