The Niobium Crystal Crater Tiara Ring is hand forged from pure niobium, shaped and textured individually in Alice Fry’s studio. Each band carries a distinctive sparkling surface — hammered by hand and inspired by geological formations, crystal structures and shimmering mineral veins. The organic edges are carved into the niobium to create a sense of movement of the crystals forming around your finger. This ring is also designed to sit next to a gemstone engagement ring, to create an undulating wave around a gemstone.

Visions of futuristic, celestial crystals are translated into metal. Using electricity, the ring is anodised to create luminous blue interference colours that dance in the light. This striking effect comes from niobium oxide built up on the surface using electricity in the anodising process, refracting and reflecting light to create a shifting, otherworldly illusion of colour. The colour on this ring was created at 82 volts.

Ideal for jewellery, niobium can be anodised to achieve vibrant colours without dyes or coatings. Using different voltages (as pictured), you can create a range of colours, including: yellows, pinks, purples, blues and greens.
