TAILOR TOYO
Souvenir jackets—known as “Sukajan”—are the very essence of Tailor Toyo’s history. Originally, U.S. servicemen stationed in postwar Japan commissioned jackets embroidered with oriental motifs and unit names as mementos. These pieces were later commercialized as souvenirs. At the time, the predecessor of Tailor Toyo (Toyo Enterprise), Kosho & Co. (Koshoshokai), supplied such garments to U.S. military bases. Rather than a passing trend, Tailor Toyo continues to preserve Sukajan as a cultural heritage.







Matte Acetate with Enhanced Vintage Character
The acetate fabric features a subdued, matte sheen with a softly muted tone. An aging treatment adds depth, giving the material a worn-in character that feels as though it has been worn for years from the moment you first put it on.



The ribbing is finished with a rich, textured feel, while the rayon threads used in the embroidery carry a slightly faded tone. Together, the materials faithfully recreate the aged appeal characteristic of Souvenir Jacket.



The subtle fading often seen on vintage Souvenir Jacket—particularly across the upper and lower sections—is also carefully reproduced.





Striking vintage details with painterly embroidery
The tiger head on the front is intricately embroidered, capturing fine details such as the cheek fur and curved, flowing mane with remarkable artistry.



This level of detailed expression, with its extensive use of curved stitching, is only possible through highly skilled craftsmanship.



The reversible side features a “Chevy Lover” design—an homage to Chevrolet, affectionately known as “Chevy,” reflecting custom orders by car-loving U.S. servicemen.



Inspired by custom car culture, the embroidery adds a distinctive sense of playfulness to the jacket.



The front zipper is an original “T.Y.E” butterfly zipper, modeled after hand-bent zippers from the 1950s, featuring pull tabs on both sides in a classic style.



The collar, cuffs, and hem feature ribbed trims, based on baseball jackets worn by U.S. servicemen.



The pockets feature single-welt slash construction, adding a subtle accent in line with classic Souvenir Jacket details.

The silhouette is slightly compact, staying true to the original proportions. Easy to wear yet impactful, it stands out as the centerpiece of any outfit. With both sides equally striking, the reversible design offers fresh styling possibilities with continued wear.
