Details: This exquisite 18k European-cut diamond ring is a perfect example of a half-hoop; one of the most desired ring styles of the nineteenth century. Diamonds were considerably more rare before the twentieth century and every fashionable lady of means wanted to own one.
The stones chosen to be set for this piece would have taken much time and expense to to source. These are well matched, clear white diamonds and the cushion cuts of this ring were considered one of the more desirable cut for the time. The center is a little larger with the diamonds on either side graduating in size slightly. To set them off for maximum effect and sparkle the jeweler arranged them in curved Belcher setting where the prongs are carved directly from the shank providing a very secure but open setting allowing light to hit every facet.
Measurements: Size 6.75, the diamonds are approximately .75 carat total weight
Origin: England, c. 1890's
