DESCRIPTION:

This striking Native American jewelry set is Zuni hand crafted by artist J.D. Masie from genuine sterling silver and multi-stone inlay. Stones include turquoise, mother of pearl, jet, and red coral, each expertly cut and set into the traditional Sunface design. The Sunface is a sacred Zuni symbol representing warmth, life, and harmony.

The centerpiece pendant is surrounded by radiating inlay “petals” and accented with five dangling black teardrop drops, creating bold movement and style. The matching earrings complete the set, perfectly echoing the necklace design. Both necklace and earrings are signed and hallmarked by the artist.

Turquoise is the birthstone of December. It is believed that turquoise tends to bring good fortune, strength and helps overcome illness. Turquoise got its name from the Levantine traders called Turks who brought the stone to Europe from Persia via Turkey centuries ago. Native Americans have prized turquoise since the time of the Aztecs, who mined it in New Mexico. The natural variations that occur in turquoise are part of its appeal and beauty.
