Oh my… this one is a bit special!

This very beautiful piece comes from the south of India and is truly something remarkable. Thousands of tiny stitched and applique pieces are joined together to create a stunning, warm and happy piece of cloth. Each thread and cotton patch was hand dyed before it was included, all with vegetable dyes. The maker is amazingly talented to be able to work all these tiny and delicate stitches and pieces, a true artisan. We can’t imagine the months spent on this piece and the amount of work that has gone in to each and every little detail! Then the finished work of art has been over-dyed in turmeric to give it that warm and sunny glow. The backing is perfect and is made from hand printed Ajarakh cloth – with is a work of art in its own right! With natural dyes like Indigo and Madder root.

This amazing piece deserved to sit center stage on a wall in your favourite room. Even better if you can somehow hang her so that you can see the Ajarakh backing, which is almost too stunning to hide. You could stare at this for years and always see more, it is simply beautiful.   

Roughly 177cm x 130cm. This piece is pretty perfect, with a thread or two out of place due to it being vintage and handmade.
