Horology By The Sea is proud to present a lovely example of the Model 42 Pilot, a rare find from the legendary Paul Gerber who is attributed for crafting the world’s most complicated timepiece.

At its heart lies Gerber’s Caliber 42, a modified ETA 2824 movement powered by a ménage à trois of solid 18 karat gold synchronized rotors visible through the sapphire caseback. This ingenious triple-rotor system is a hallmark of Gerber’s innovative spirit and unconventional creativity. 

As a compliment to the distinctive Pilot dial and hands set on the watch, an additional Synchron dial and matching green hands are included (see last two slides). Both sets of dials and hands are applied with Superluminova for excellent night time legibility.

The Model 42 (aka Ref. 420) was officially discontinued in 2022 and rarely is seen available for sale.

The Titanium Case measures 42mm x 12mm x 48mm lug-to-lug. Some scratches are evident on the bezel, middle case, caseback and underneath the lugs. Furnished on a 22mm Panerai grey Assolutamente strap and Panerai stainless steel pin buckle. Also included as is an OEM black calfskin strap with green stitching and signed titanium Paul Gerber buckle. Complete with Box & Papers dated November 24, 2012. This watch was serviced June 2026.
