Hamburg and New York Steinway D pianos share strong family traits but exhibit subtle differences in personality due to variations in hammer construction, voicing techniques, and proprietary soundboard fabrication methods. Both use premium Sitka spruce soundboards. During development for Pianoteq, every note was meticulously adjusted, producing instruments with stunningly vivid and expressive tones suitable for the most demanding musicians.

With Pianoteq 9, both Steinway D models benefit from the new audio engine, delivering rich, evolving resonance, enhanced spatial depth, and a lifelike, organic tone.
