Troubleshooting: "My water isn't getting hot."

Before replacing the thermostat, check the following:

1. The Trip Switch: Remove the plastic cover on your water heater and look for the small reset button on the thermostat. If it has popped up, press it back in. If it trips again immediately, the thermostat or the heating element is likely faulty.

2. Element Continuity: If the thermostat is sending power but the water stays cold, your heating element (like the FVSLRSB12110A00) may be burnt out.

3. Scaling: Heavy mineral buildup on the internal probe can "insulate" the thermostat, causing it to read temperatures incorrectly and shut off prematurely.
