For sale here is an impregnated Orvis Madison 6'6" 5wt 2/1 bamboo rod with a labeled weight of 2 7/8 oz. Serial #71870 made in 1973. The rod is in excellent condition. All wraps are sound. Both sections are straight and full length. Chestnut brown silks and extremely dark chocolate colored tempered cane give this rod a striking appearance. Aluminum down-locking reel seat over Walnut. Cigar grip with skinny nose characteristic of shorter Orvis rods. The rod has a lovely full flexing medium-fast action. The ferrules are 11/64 and the fit is excellent. The rod is described as a 6wt on the rod but a line size down usually works best these Orvis rods. Original bag and tube with green and silver label. Actual weight on digital scale 3 1/8 oz. This is a great fishing rod for those tighter situations and the dark color set this rod apart from the crowd.
