Thermoguard Steel Fire Paint Primer is a fast-drying, high-build solvent-based primer for structural steel, offering exceptional corrosion resistance and superior grip to steel, existing primers and gloss finishes. It forms the perfect base layer for Thermocoat WI, WO and S intumescent systems.

Formulated with Zinc Phosphate and Micaceous Iron Oxide, it delivers a tough, attractive metallic finish and is ideal for both internal and partially exposed external steel. Can also be used as a standalone primer finish in two coats under normal exposure or as part of a severe exposure system when overcoated with Thermoguard Flame Retardant Topcoat.

Surface Preparation

• Apply promptly to blast cleaned steel or steel abraded to ST2

• May also be applied to sound primers, gloss or eggshell finishes

• Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and sound

• Avoid flash-rusting before application
