Sansevero
Raymond de Sangro, Prince of Sansevero, was an 18th-century Neapolitan nobleman, inventor, and patron of the arts. The chapel bearing his family name in the historic centre of Naples contains the Veiled Christ, a marble sculpture by Giuseppe Sanmartino in which the fabric draped over the figure appears, impossibly, to be real cloth: the marble rendered so finely that the distinction between material and illusion disappears. The Sanseverino dedication to the perfection of craft has left a mark on Naples that has not diminished in three centuries.
This glove takes its name from that tradition of material precision. Nappa leather on the palm and fingers; a 100% Vitale Barberis Canonico cashmere panel on the back. A contrasting trim runs along the edge where leather and cashmere meet, coordinated with the cashmere tone. Snap button closure at the wrist. Cashmere lining. Hand-crafted in Naples.
Navy, black, alpaca. The cooler register of the palette. The contrast between leather and cashmere is the design. Like the veil on the marble, the boundary between the two materials is where the attention goes.
