We knew the first in our new Solid Gold Signet collection had to be a really great motto and we can think of no better one than this, Deeds Not Words! An old take on the more modern motto, 'Actions Speak Louder Than Words', and in rebus form no less! What is a rebus? In Georgian and Victorian times (1700s to 1800s), sending subtle hidden messages was a common form of communication, using a system of pictograms and/or combining words or letters with images to form a message. In this case, we have the words 'Deeds' and 'Words' written out in a rather spectacular Old English font, and the word 'Not' is represented by a detailed piece of rope that is looped into a knot, so a play on the word 'knot' meaning 'not'. Get it? How fabulous is that? Another plus is that this beauty is gender neutral, looking powerful and luxe on any hand.
