The light was a collaboration between two of Italy's greatest designers, Gino Sarfatti and Archimede Seguso.

Gino Sarfatti was one of the most important Italian Industrial designers, born in 1912, who designed over 700 lights over his long career, the majority of which were through his company Arteluce, which he founded in 1939.  Arteluce was later purchased by Flos after his death in 1985

The Seguso glass foundry is one of the oldest and most historical glass manufacturers on the island of Murano, dating back to 1397.  It is also one of the largest glass furnaces on Murano. Glass made by the Seguso furnace can be found in over 75 museums worldwide, such as MOMA in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Archimede Seguso was a direct descendant of the Seguso founder. Born in 1909 , he was the creative force during the 20th Century at Seguso. His technical ability as a glass maker combined with his genius as a designer,  meant he created new intricate, glass making techniques and some of the most beautiful glass of the 20th Century.
