Everyone loves The Mick… especially as a rookie! Mickey Mantle was one of the most touted prospects in the history of Major League Baseball. Offered here is a rare 16x20 photo signed by Mickey Mantle, inscribed “1951” and “No. 6” to honor his iconic rookie year with the Yankees. When Mantle came up in 1951, he actually wore number 6 because he was supposed to be the next Yankee legend: Babe Ruth #3, Lou Gehrig #4, Joe DiMaggio #5, Mantle #6… but that only lasted a few months. While he wore the number briefly, the young rookie struggled early on and was temporarily sent down to the Minors. When he regained his confidence and was eventually called back up to the Majors, he was given his now-iconic number 7 and led the Yankees to yet another World Series Title.  

Astute baseball collectors love anything referencing Mantle's 1951 rookie season and his rare number 6. These inscriptions are rare and highly desirable, especially on beautiful oversized photos!
