Details: This gorgeously ornate 15k gold padlock is composed of fine gold wire looped, twisted, and laced to create intricate, dimensional frames for the fine Persian turquoise it holds. Hanging from delicate chains are a tiny decorative key and miniature lock. The padlock appears delicate but is actually quite sturdy. 

Padlocks are symbolic of loyalty and love, showing the world that your love is safe and secure. Pieces like these were often given to a loved one upon leaving for a trip or journey. 

Cannetille work had its heyday during the Napoleonic war between France and England, 1803-1815.  Very similar to filigree, cannetille is more intricate, often decorated with granulated ball detail. It was wildly popular in both jewelry and decorative arts when man-power was inexpensive. Requiring skilled craftsmanship and many hours of fine tuning, this kind of artistry was painstakingly produced. This pendant is truly a rare treasure and highly collectable.
