Beijing-based photographer Lin Zhipeng, also known as No. 223, became widely known in the early internet era for sharing intimate snapshots of daily life online. Since the early 2000s, his photographs have influenced a new generation of Chinese artists and photographers, including Ren Hang.

'La Liberté ou L’Amour' looks back on nearly twenty years of his work through ten small booklets designed to be mixed, rearranged, and explored freely. The publication brings together both well-known and lesser-seen images—nudes, still lifes, quiet moments between friends, and small details from everyday life.

While themes of the body and sexuality run through his photographs, Lin’s work is equally about curiosity, youth, and the fleeting beauty of ordinary moments. More than a retrospective, the book feels like an open archive of his visual world and creative freedom.
