We started with a very stout heavy duty pair of tongs. The arms of the tongs have turned in edges which gives them more holding strength. The wrapped portion of the tongs is 2.25" wide by approximately 6" long. The total length of the tongs is 16". We wrapped over 15 feet of 2,000 °F tape over the serrated arms of the tongs. This wrap provides plenty of insulation between the glass and the metal tong arms. The end the user holds is a heavy duty plastic. Griffin says they've used their tongs to finish over 300 large pieces in the last two years and hey are still going strong.
