For sale here is an R.L. Winston "Retro" 5' 2 piece 3 weight fiberglass fly rod. Serial no. 465. The rod is in unused condition. The rod features a brick colored sanded blank with crimson wraps and pale silver tipping at the winding check and signature wrap. Halfway between the grip and stripping guide there is a vintage Winston "loving cup" decal. Along with the usual information scripted on the rod, "Ouzel", a bird that thrives in mountain streams is also written in silver. U-shaped hook-keeper. Knurled, nickel silver winding check. Reverse half-wells grip. There is a pale red tint around the bottom swell of the grip from the red rod bag. Nickel silver down-locking reel seat with a cocobolo spacer. The spigot ferrules fit together nice and tight as they should with a 1/4" gap to allow for wear over time. The rod weighs a lean 2.30 oz. The action is a very smooth full flexing medium, capable of precise, delicate casts. Perfect for tight willow tunnels and backcountry streams full of brookies and cutthroats.
