For sale here is a E.W. Edwards era rod - 7'6" 4-5wt 3/3. Most likely made for Marshall Fields. The rod is a bit of a Frankenstein, only the butt and mid sections can be confirmed as original. The three tips are not original but do match in size in relation to each other as well as the rest of the rod. They also feature Edwards ferrules. There is a rather loose ferrule on one of the tips as well as some splintering at the ferrule. The wrap colors on the tips are much more vibrant than on the butt and mid. All three tips are full length and straight. 

The butt and mid sections are a lovely pumpkin tone with bronze colored silks with charcoal and cinnamon tipping. The varnish is beginning to sag with age and crack at the ferrules and guides. Both sections are straight and full length. Written on the butt section in white cursive, turned yellow by age, is "Fieldcraft". On the next flat below that is "Mt", this appears to be in a different hand though the colors match. One would expect "Carmel" next to the "Mt". Bronzed hook keeper. Mildly swelled butt. Sculpted bakelite winding check. Classic cigar grip with light soiling and slight ridging throughout. Bright nickel silver cap and ring reel seat with a cork spacer. The spacer is discolored after years of contact with a reel foot. The butt cap has been pinned in place. The oxidized ferrules are size 14/64 and 9/64. Excellent overall ferrule fit. The rod weighs 3.75 oz. The weight is the same with all three tips. The action is medium with plenty of backbone and excellent recovery. Replacement bag and tube. Despite the issues, this is a fine fishing rod with a terrific action that deserves to be fished again.
