Installation & Maintenance Tips

• The "Drip Loop": When installing, use a high-quality marine sealant (like 303 or 4000UV) under the flange to prevent water from leaking into your gunwale core.

• Backing Plates: For offshore trolling, it is highly recommended to use a backing plate on the underside of the gunwale. This prevents the stainless steel bolts from pulling through the fiberglass during an aggressive strike.

• Polishing: To keep that mirror finish, rinse with fresh water after every trip. Once a season, apply a dedicated marine metal wax to prevent "tea staining" (small surface rust spots).

Do you need the backing plates or a different angle for your spread?

If you are setting up a trolling spread, many captains mix 30° holders with 15° or 0° (vertical) holders for different rod positions.
