Description: Of all timeless symbols, the moon is the most beautiful and enigmatic of all! This beautiful, perfect crescent moon is a stellar handmade Victorian piece. Made in England, this Georgian Revival piece is fabricated from 9k gold with silver tipped settings. The graduated diamonds range in cut from tiny rose cuts to old mine cuts to old European cuts.
The oxidized silver setting harks back to the the Georgian Era but the back of the setting is open to let the light through the stones. The total diamond count is nineteen stones and the crescent shape is just the most perfect curved shape. Currently a brooch, we could convert this to a pendant for an extra fee but we love this sparkly beauty as a pin. Elegant on a lapel or collar, this is wonderfully wearable and collectable piece.
History & Symbolism: The crescent was a very popular motif throughout history and the Victorians were especially taken with symbolism and hidden meanings. The crescent moon represents the ebb and flow of life, the light in the darkness, and the feminine energy of the moon goddess. Additionally the romantic Victorians were very taken with the night sky and the heavens - stars, moons and comets were all the rage in jewelry design.
Measurements: The pin weighs approximately 3.8g, perfect for lighter garments. The crescent is 1.20" round.
Origin: England, c. 1890's.
