Keim IF Primer (I.G. Primer) is a nitro-collodium, colourless primer with good water vapour permeability used to obliterate staining. Used as a primer particularly for substrates that are contaminated with soot, nicotine and tar and to consolidate substrates.

Preparation & Application

Substrate Preparation
All loose, flaking and unstable material must be identified and then thoroughly removed, all surfaces must be thoroughly washed down with clean cold water to remove all surface dirt and dust. When all surfaces are clean, sound, wind dry, dust free and free from all surface contaminants, application of Keim IF Primer may proceed.

Application
It is usually sufficient to apply only one coat of Keim IF Primer. For extremely strong contamination a second coat is recommended with 4 hours between coats. Keim IF Primer is supplied ready to use and should be applied undiluted by brush or roller.

Keim IF Primer can be used between coats of Keim Mineral Paint systems. After a waiting time of approx. 5 hours Keim IF Primer be over coated with any of the Keim Mineral Paint systems.

Application Conditions
Ambient and substrate temperature above 5°C and below 30°C. Do not apply in direct sunlight or onto sun-heated surfaces, nor if it is raining or if there is an immediate likelihood of rain.

Consumption
Approx. 0.1lt/m² per coat. Consumption rates are offered for guideline purposes only and are quoted for smooth rendered surfaces. Actual rates are the responsibility of the applicator. Project specifications should be referred to for specific rates.

Cleaning of Tools
Clean tools with cellulose thinner (or similar) immediately after use.
