This piece is done on clear pine. I woodburned and shaded the Quan Yin image by hand and then added watercolor paint, gold leaf and a piece of moonstone on her third eye then sealed the entire piece with several layers of clear varnish.

Quan Yin is known as the goddess of compassion. The Chinese name Guanyin is short for Guanshiyin, meaning "The One Who Perceives the Sounds of the World". Quan Yin is believed to have miraculous powers to assist all those who pray to her. 

Quan Yin is shown pouring a stream of healing water, the "Water of Life," from a small vase. With this water devotees and all living things are blessed with physical and spiritual peace.
