Waycross fielded its Grasshoppers in the Georgia State League starting in 1914, bringing Class D baseball to a South Georgia railroad town. Small-town clubs like these gave communities an identity beyond the depot and the pine forests. Waycross earned its place in the long, quiet history of minor league ball.
Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
