Step into the heart of one of boxing’s most legendary and controversial moments with this “Official” armband worn by ringside personnel during the 1927 rematch between Gene Tunney and Jack Dempsey at Soldier Field—a world heavyweight title fight that captured the attention of the sporting world. Gene Tunney was the reigning champion, and the outcome of this bout would decide the heavyweight crown, making every second, every ruling, and every official decision crucial.

In the seventh round, Dempsey knocked Tunney down, but failed to immediately move to a neutral corner as the rules required. Referee Dave Barry delayed the count until Dempsey complied, giving Tunney extra time to recover. Tunney, taking advantage of the “Long Count”, got back on his feet, survived the round, and went on to win a unanimous decision. To this day, it is one of the most talked-about controversies in boxing history - particularly with the world heavyweight title at stake!
