For sale here is an impregnated Orvis "Mitey Mite" -- 5' 4wt 2/1 bamboo rod. Serial no. 59372. Made in 1970. The rod is in excellent original condition, made with only one tip. Both sections are full length and straight. The rod features dark tempered cane characteristic of older Orvis rods. Dark amber wraps. Bright guides. The script on the rod remains clean and bold, though there is a small amount of wear from age and honest use. Petite, 4" cigar grip with a rather slender nose is soiled but void of any other defect. Dual aluminum sliding band reel seat with a mortised cork spacer.  There is a small chip in the cork near the aluminum buttcap. The ferrules are size 10/64, the fit is excellent. The rod weighs a very light 1.65 oz. Though the rod is rated for a 5wt (HEG), a line size down is best with these Orvis rods. The action is quite fast and with a good deal of backbone for its size. A terrific rod for native east coast brookies, high mountain cutthroats, or any situation where conditions are tight and casting space is in short supply. The rod includes original grey bag and original tube with blue and gold foil label. There is a small dent in the tube, but nothing to cause concern.
