The VDO 360-004 is the global benchmark for reliability in engine instrumentation. It is frequently found as original equipment (OEM) on premium European vehicles and marine engines. Its "no-nonsense" design focuses on longevity, offering a stable signal that doesn't "jitter" or drift over time, which is critical for identifying early signs of engine wear.
Do not use PTFE (Teflon) tape or pipe sealant on the threads of this sender. Because it is a "Standard Ground" unit, it must have a clean metal-to-metal connection with the engine block to complete the circuit. Using tape can insulate the threads, causing the gauge to read incorrectly or not at all. The tapered NPT threads are designed to seal on their own as they are tightened.
