This Palais Royal pot de crème set from early to mid-19th century Paris is a rare example of French antique porcelain, delicately hand-painted and finished with 18 karat gold detailing. Emerging in the period following the French Revolution, Palais Royal workshops became known for producing finely crafted decorative objects that reflected both refinement and artistry.
The set contains five Paris porcelain compotes from the early 1800's, and three compotes by Limoges from the 1920's Paris for a total of 8. They are in excellent condition with a few minor chips of wear. One compote is missing its handle, but I place it in the back of the tray. A weighty and elegant matching serving tray is included.
These dress up any table or occasion and look bright on the daily kitchen counter for serving jams, mustards, spreads, and of course warm milk, hot chocolate and puddings.

Originally designed for serving delicate custards, these antique French dessert vessels now serve equally well as collectible objects or refined accents for the table.
Provenance, the story. This collection carries a unique provenance, I learned from the vendor who was the granddaughter of the previous owner. The vendor shared these were cherised by her grandmother, a Frenchwoman. After her grandmother married into a Northern Italian family, she would frequently return to visit friends at their château along the French Riviera. The set was gifted to her grandmother as a lasting token of friendship and a reflection of her place within that world.
