For sale here is a Payne Model 98 bamboo rod -- 7' 2/2 for a 4 weight line. The rod is in excellent overall original condition with the one detractor being some minor sagging and bag marks in the varnish from the rod being exposed to a little more humidity than normal. The varnish has hardened since then so what we are left with is a cosmetic issue only. None of the marks or sagging has exposed the cane underneath. All sections are full length and both tips have slight sets. No repairs or issues with the luscious brownstone cane. Mahogany silks with gold tipping. Cigar grip in excellent condition with only light soiling. Cap and ring reel seat over a mortised Spanish cedar spacer. "Sold By Abercrombie & Fitch Co. New York" stamped on the butt cap. Ferrules are size 11/64 and the fit is perfect. The rod weighs 2.95 oz. The action is classic medium-fast. Comes with original bag with hang tag and original tube sans label and extra canvas cover for protection. A great example of perhaps the most popular seven foot bamboo rod ever made!
