This wine is sourced from the San Valentino vineyard in Montefalco the soil of which is dominated by clay. The vineyard is at 1300 feet altitude. The composition of the Montefalco Rosso is 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Montepulciano, all from a 50-year old v Paolo Bea San Valentino has notes of red fruits, strawberry, raspberry, plum, and, cinnamon.
The clay soils of the San Valentino vineyard are planted to a blend of predominantly Sangiovese, with 15% Sagrantino and an equal amount of Montepulciano. Macerated for thirty days and aged in stainless steel, this is the drink-young cuvée from the Bea estate, but is still from vines that are over 50 years old.
