Its three-inch blade is precision machined from premium CPM-S45VN stainless steel and features a full-flat grind for a superior balance of strength, point utility, and low-friction cutting performance. It includes a textured index-finger choil and thumb ramp that provide a solid purchase for a forward grip and offer enhanced control during precise cutting tasks. The blade's signature Trademark Round Hole clearly brands it as a member of the Spyderco family and is fully accessible to allow quick, positive, one-handed opening with either hand.

To keep the Para 3 slim and pocket friendly, it features a lightweight, open-backed construction style and its stainless steel liners are nested into machined recesses in the textured G10 scales. This reduces the handle thickness and provides excellent structural support for the knife's patented Compression Lock. Located in the spine of the handle, this high-strength mechanism locks the blade securely open during use, yet allows it to be closed easily and safely with only one hand. CPM-S45VN Sprint Run

CPM-S45VN is a martensitic stainless steel specifically created to transcend its predecessors. Its carefully tuned chemistry promotes the formation of more chromium carbides while leaving larger amounts of free chromium available for corrosion resistance. Together with a finely tuned formula of niobium, nitrogen, vanadium, and carbon, its composition offers a superior balance of edge retention, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and toughness. All of these qualities are further enhanced by the Crucible Particle Metallurgy process, which ensures an exceptionally homogenous grain structure.

To showcase this high-performance steel, Spyderco is producing limited edition Sprint Runs of a select number of their US-made models. Each CPM-S45VN knife will also feature distinctive forest green G10 scales and an exclusive CNC-machined Diamond Arc pattern that gives them a visually stunning non-slip texture.

Spyderco Sprint Runs are limited edition production runs of items not found in Spyderco's standard product line. They may be unique versions of current knives or special expressions of discontinued designs. Every Sprint Run is a unique, one-time-only event.
