Starburst kalmia is a fantastic cultivar with abundant white buds that open to flowers of maroon with white margins. They put on a dazzling display! Its glossy evergreen foliage creates an excellent canvas for its blooms, and makes for an attractive shrub when not in bloom. Blooming typically occurs around May depending on growing conditions.

Starburst attracts both butterflies and hummingbirds! It has a rounded even growth habit that reaches up to 6' tall x 6' wide at maturity. These plants do best in full sun to partial shade and they require well-draining (preferably acidic) soil. Hardy to -15°F when protected against windchill.
