Andrews High Build Metal Primer is a fast-drying, high-build anti-corrosive primer designed to protect steel surfaces in industrial and maintenance environments.

This primer provides excellent corrosion resistance under atmospheric conditions, making it ideal for structural steel, fabricated components and general metalwork. Its high-build properties allow for strong coverage and film thickness in fewer coats, helping to speed up application and reduce labour time.

Designed for flexibility on site, it can be overcoated with a wide range of one-pack and two-pack topcoats, making it suitable for both quick maintenance jobs and full coating systems.

Surface Preparation

• Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from grease, oil and contaminants
• Steel should ideally be blast cleaned to Sa2½ standard
• Alternatively, mechanically prepare to a minimum of St2 standard
• Previously coated or shop-primed steel should be cleaned and abraded
• Remove all loose rust, mill scale and failing coatings before application

Proper preparation is essential to achieve maximum adhesion and corrosion protection.

Technical Data

Directions for Use

1. Stir thoroughly before use.

2. Ensure surface preparation is completed to the required standard.

3. Apply by brush, roller or spray depending on project requirements.

4. Apply evenly to achieve recommended film thickness.

5. Allow approximately 15 minutes to become touch dry.

6. Overcoat after a minimum of 45 minutes, depending on temperature.

7. Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.

Do not apply below 5°C or when condensation is present.
