The Gekko line features a remarkable blade crafted by the skilled master blacksmith Yu Kurosaki. This sleek, lightweight, and well-balanced blade is migaki-finished to a high shine, while the tiny dimple texture on the flat diffuses the light. It is aptly named Gekko (月光), which translates to "moonlight" in Japanese.
The blade's slight offset from the centre axis means there is a greater knuckle clearance, and the cutting edge lands the ingredients at a lower position from your grip than the standard sujihiki for the same blade height, allowing an easier cutting motion.
The slightly convex kiriha bevel assists in separating ingredients. The small secondary bevel experiences minimum pressure at the cutting edge.
