La Grande's Beetpullers took the field in 1902 as part of the Inland Empire League, a Class D outfit born from Oregon's agricultural heartland. Sugar beet farming defined that region, and the team carried that identity with pride. Small town baseball clubs like this one gave working communities something to rally around long before the modern game forgot them.
